It is always better and safer to prevent disease than to treat it. This is why you need to have your pet on flea and tick preventatives.

Fleas do not live on your pet. They only feed on them for a brief period of time. Then they jump off into the surrounding area and can lay eggs or choose another food source, possibly you.  If you have 10 fleas, in 30 days you can have 90,000 flea eggs.

Flea collars are not effective. They put the heaviest amount of toxins in the area right by the collar. These toxins only spread a few inches. The best use for flea collars is to cut them in 2 inch pieces and put them in your vacuum cleaner bag. This will prevent those fleas picked up by your vacuum from hatching.

Frontline is a topical that you place on your dog or cat to kill those nasty fleas and ticks. It is easily applied in a single spot, usually between the shoulder blades, and it then automatically uses the bodies natural oils to spread evenly over the pet. Frontline will remain effective even if the animal gets wet.
